Alipore Zoological Garden is exhibiting several colourful exotic  pheasants like Chinese silver pheasant, golden pheasant, lady amherst’s pheasant, reeve’s pheasant, green pheasant and nepal kalij pheasant. The zoo is also maintaining a large population of Bhutan grey peacock pheasant.

Several cockatoos like bare-eyed cockatoo, citron crested cockatoo,sulphur crested cockatoo, moluccan cockatoo and goffin’s cockatoo and macaws like red and blue macaw  &  blue and  yellow macaw are also exhibited in the zoo. Spoonbill, an endangered species is being bred regularly in the zoo. Sarus Crane and  storks like painted stork, adjutant stork ,white stork and black necked stork are also exhibited here.

Budgerigar

Scientific Name:

Found in Western Australia, New South Whales, Victoria.

Diet: 65-80% pelleted   food, 15-30% vegetables, and 5% fruits.

Lays : 4 to 8 eggs.
Cockatiel

Scientific Name:
Nymphicus hollandicus


Found inAustralia, Tasmania.

Diet: Feeds on nuts, seeds, fruits & green vegetables.

Special: Dimorphic ,gentle and docile bird;
 Lays: 3-8 eggs.

Incubation:19 or 20 days.

Moluccan Cockatoo

Scientific Name:
Cacatua moluccensis


Found in Indonesia.

Feeds: Nuts, seeds, fruits & green vegetables .

Lays: 2 eggs; Incubation 28 days.
         
Bare Eyed cockatoo

Scientific Name:
Cacatua sanguinea


Found throughout Australia except central-western part.
Feeds on fruits, nut, seeds & green vegetables.

Lays 2 eggs;

Incubation: 23 to 26 days.
 
Citron Crested Cockatoo

Scientific Name:
Cacatua sulphurea citrinocristata


Found in Indonesia.
Feeds on seeds, nuts, fruits, green vegetables etc.

Usually lays 2 eggs;

Incubation: 28 days.
 
Greater Sulphur Crested Cockatoo

Scientific Name:
Cacatua galerita galerita


Found in east, north-east and northern Australia.
Feeds on seeds, nuts, fruits, green vegetables etc.

Usually lays 2 eggs;

Incubation: 26 days.
         
Red Vented Bulbul

Scientific Name:
Pycnonotus cafer


Found in throughout India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.

Diet: A major pest of agriculture and gardens. Feeds on fruits, vegetables, flower buds, and insects.

Lays: 2 or 3 eggs

 
Red Whiskered Bulbul

Scientific Name:
Pycnonotus jocosus


Found in India, Bangladesh & Myanmar.

DIET:. Diets consist of fruits, nectar and insects,


Lays: 2-4 pale pink eggs

 
Western Crown Pigeon

Scientific Name:
Goura cristata


They are natives of New Guinea and a few surrounding islands. They forage on the forest floor eating fallen fruit, seeds and snails. The males and females are almost identical, but during courtship the male will coo and bow for the female. Both parents incubate one egg for 28 to 30 days and the chick takes another 30 days to fledge. The life span can be over 20 years.
