International Tiger Day...a day to appreciate the beauty, grandeur and importance of our National Animal.... BENGAL TIGER. Every year, at Zoological Garden, Alipore we take this opportunity to create awareness among young students by organising interactive programmes for them. But this year it is a little different, as we are in a lockdown situation due covid-19 pandemic. But we should not waste any opportunity to create awareness about wildlife. So, we are using this platform to spread knowledge about our National Animal.
Celebration of World Environment Day at Zoological Garden, Alipore on 5th June, 2020. Amidst the Coronavirus and Amphan situation we thought the best way to celebrate the day is by planting trees. Sal, sonalu , kurchi, bahera , ritha ,basanta sundari, yellow palash , mahul etc at were planted at zoo. Amphan has taken away about 40 nos of old tree. We will plant about 2000 tall tree during the month of june - july.
A 3-day long training was organised for the visiting intern students from Sylhet Agricultural University, Bangladesh on 10 to 12th February, 2020 at the Zoological Garden, Alipore. About 85 students along with 3 faculty members participated in the training programme.
